Dry Needling and Sports Injury Acupuncture

Dry needling is also sometimes called intramuscular stimulation. During dry needling I insert several filiform needles into your skin. Filiform needles are fine, short, stainless steel needles that don’t inject fluid into the body, that’s why the term “dry” is used.

Placing the needles into trigger points in your muscle or tissue, can help release the knot and relieve any muscle pain or spasms. The needles will remain in your skin for a short period of time.

I incorporate sports injury acupuncture points into the treatment process, specifically points on meridian lines that will help improve the muscle and tendon tissues, energy levels whilst improving the movement of Qi throughout the body. I use The Five Element Theory ,experience from clinical experience and through the teachings and advice from John Tindall, (the NADA Protocol GB founder), to decide upon treatment plans.

NADA Protocol

This is a simple yet extremely effective treatment using 5 sterile, single use, stainless steel needles for each ear. The outer ear acts like a switch board that sends impulses to the brain, which stimulate the release of endorphins, lowers stress and induces relaxation.

The 5 points are

  1. Sympathetic - Calms the Nervous system and helps with overall relaxation

  2. Shen Men / Spirit Gate - reduces anxiety and nervousness.

  3. Kidney point - for calming fears and healing internal organs.

  4. Liver point - for detoxification, blood purification and to quell feelings of frustration and anger.

  5. Lung point - promotes aeration and helps clients let go of grief.

NADA was first developed 1985 to encourage community wellness for those affected by Mental Health issues, addictions, disaster and emotional trauma and to aid detoxification. The effectiveness of this protocol is considered so impressive that NADA is recognised and provided within the UK and all over the world. It is provided in many worldwide crisis situations.

Over the last two years I have studied Micro-system acupuncture ( Scalp, Foot, Hand, Face, Ears). I have qualified and continue to study under John Tindal who introduced NADA- protocol to the UK in 1988 having worked under NADA Founder Dr Mike Smith in 1987 at the Lincoln Clinic in the South Bronx, New York.

Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture

Traditionally facial acupuncture utilises fives areas of the face with a total of 24 points. More recently a new modern system, mapped primarily around and on the nose has proved very effective. All the meridians of the body make connections to and from the face and consequently careful observation of the face reveals essential information about the state of health of the whole body, mind and spirit matrix, which has been used since ancient times. Since the 1970s Doctors in China have pioneered the use of facial acupuncture for pain control; anaesthesia , regulating the immune system and internal organ function. The beauty of this form of acupuncture is that it is simple, effective and safe in clinical practise.

Specific application of Korean facial needles to the face will tone/relax and reinvigorate the muscles and increase blood flow supplying beautifying nutrients to the skin and inner networks of nerves and connective tissues.

Stimulating facial areas encourages healthy lymphatic flow and unblocks stagnant Qi energy to benefit overall well-being. Distal points on other points on the body, when correlated with the facial point's meridian line can achieve amazing results for the entire body, mind and spirit.

The beauty of facial acupuncture is that the benefits are felt throughout body and mind whilst also immediately visible in a softened and reawakened expression, naturally revealing the true aesthetic exquisiteness. The spirit is soothed and flows to the surface of the face and eyes.
